Sights
A metropolis like Madrid offers far more sights than can be presented in this small
section. This is why only a few important sights (that I've got decent pictures
of) will be presented.
El Parque del Buen Retiro (or simply El Retiro)
|
|
 With
it's 600 metres above sea level Madrid is located even higher than Munich and -
it is has a lot more hills.

|

Build for an exhibition of the Philippine Islands in 1887 the Palacio de Cristal
is probably the most impressive structure within the Retiro. It is used today to
house various art exhibitions.

Puerta de Alcalá
|

The Puerta de Alcalá was built by Carlos III in the 18th century. Carlos
III was one of the most industrious rulers of Spain and, hence, Madrid. He also
built several hospital, the famous Prado museum and seriously improved the infrastructure
of Madrid.

Puerta de Europa
|

The Puerta de Europa is maybe not the most impressive building of Madrid, but it
is a good representative of modern Madrid.
